ABOUT CHRIS

I’m Chris Corry and I am honored to bring our common sense Central Washington values to Olympia.

I was born in inland Southern California and grew up on a small farm. When I was a teenager, my parents relocated to Western Washington and after graduating high school, I moved to Seattle to attend the University of Washington.

Being a conservative on a college campus is becoming increasingly difficult, and it certainly was interesting to be the only conservative discussing policy with liberal professors back in the early 2000s, but that only encouraged me to graduate with a B.A. in Political Science. I was active in the College Republicans where I first met Jennica, who is now my wife. While in college, I also was elected to the Associated Students of the University of Washington as the Community Relations.

Soon after graduating, I was offered a job in Southern California. I packed up all of my belongings and moved back to the land of high taxes. After getting married, my wife and I tried to save for our first home but we were shocked and unprepared for the cost of homes in our communities. Even with two jobs, we couldn’t afford to buy a home, pay for childcare, and everything else that comes with adulthood. After a few more years of struggling to make ends meet, we decided to move back to Yakima (Jennica’s hometown), and leave those income taxes behind! It was probably the best decision we’ve ever made.

Living here has brought us closer to our family and given us a community of people who support each other. My wife and I value serving others and being engaged in the community and our church. Jennica is a board member of the Junior League of Yakima, volunteers with Voices for Children Foundation, is a member of the Yakima Republican Women’s Club, and serves as the advisor for a local pageant benefitting the Memorial Foundation. I am a board member of SW Rotary and Crime Stoppers of Yakima County, volunteer with a variety of non-profits such as the West Valley Citizens for Better Schools, and also work with local foster families.

For well over a decade, I’ve worked in the insurance industry. Starting as an insurance auditor, then as an insurance audit manager, and now I work as an insurance advisor in Yakima. These roles have provided countless experience in finance, risk management, business development, and customer service.

We have three children. Our family enjoys building LEGO and traveling together!

I am an ardent supporter of our Constitution and believer that the government serves at the will of the people. I am running to be your representative because I want to serve the people of Central Washington and bring our common sense values to Olympia.
